Toray has been producing Carbon-Carbon Electrode Plates since the early 1980's. The product combines TORAYCA® Carbon Fiber and proprietary resin systems & manufacturing techniques. The Carbon-Carbon Electrodes are very high in electrical and thermal conductivity. Originally introduced as a Gas Diffusion Layer for Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cells (PAFC), TGP-H is widely accepted as the industry standard used in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFC). Hydrogen fueled PEFC's are expected to displace Internal Combustion Engines as the power plant of choice in automotive applications for future generations.
Toray Composites (America), Inc., is responsible for Carbon Fiber Paper business in North America and is working with Fuel Cell Developers to tailor the properties for ultimate fuel cell performance.
